This very important Patriotic Contest gave school children in grades 5-8 the opportunity to express views on their pride in America.

Every year the contest starts at the Local Lodge, progresses through District and State levels, and ends with the naming of the National Winners at the Grand Lodge Session between June 30 - July 3rd, in Austin, Texas.

Essay submissions will be judged on:

✔Originality: 30 points

✔Development of Theme: 40 points

✔Mechanics and Neatness: 30 points

There are FOUR DIVISIONS for judging essays:

✔Division 1 - 5th grade

✔Division 2 - 6th grade

✔Division 3 - 7th grade

✔Division 4 -  8th grade

‍

Winners at each grade level are chosen by the local Lodge, with First Place receiving $100, Second Place $50 and Third Place $25.
Prizes for each grade at the National level receive $1,000 for First, $500 for Second, and $250 for Third Place.

A brochure regarding this year's contest, and the entry forms, can be downloaded from the link below. Forms must be filled out and returned with the essay (maximum 300 words). Deadline for entry is December 15th, 2023.
