“Shaken not stirred we have all heard the saying. It is part of what makes Ian Fleming’s super spy James Bond so super. It is not the fact they he drinks martinis that matters, it’s how he drinks them that does. But did you know that 007 didn’t drink his martinis out of a martini glass until 1987? Or that the so-called James Bond Martini isn’t really a martini, or that Bond has ordered martinis both “shaken not stirred” and “stirred not shaken” in the movies?
Join Jeff Burkhart (the Marin IJ’s Barfly columnist) for his thoughts on the matter, a few of his Bond related stories and a special screening of the original 1967 James Bond movie “Casino Royale”. Bring your questions (and your answers) with you. Formal wear optional.
As an added bonus there will be special screening of “Testing, 1, 2, 3” the short film by local director Robin Lee based on a story from Jeff’s first book “Twenty Years Behind Bars; the spirited adventures of a real bartender.” Copies of that book, and its sequel “Twenty Years Behind Bars Volume II: Parole Denied” will be also available at the event.
RESERVATIONS A MUST (limited capacity due to Covid restrictions)
