Responding to the Covid 19 crisis, San Rafael Elks volunteers and Elks National Foundation Grant funding are making a difference by providing nutritious and delicious to-go meals to those most in need, cooked up in our own spacious Lodge Kitchen!

Since the St. Vincent de Paul (“St.Vinnies”) free dining room in San Rafael was forced to close due to Covid 19 restrictions, their program switched to providing take-out options to over 25 people at breakfast and 250 people at lunchtime.

The Elks Kitchen Cares project is gifting 150 of those brown bag lunches daily to St. Vincent's Dining Room, at a cost of $2.00/meal. The very tasty meal includes:

·        Wholesome Burritos - flour tortillas, chicken in tomato sauce with garlic & herbs, spinach rice with vegetables (onions, carrots, celery, and vegetables sourced from the Elks’ own garden), seasoned black beans, salsa.

·        Home-baked chocolate brownies, apple and drink

Three to four volunteers are in the kitchen cooking and prepping Mon-Thurs with Project Team Leader Dee Wagner, fellow Elk.

We are currently funded for 2,500 lunches with an ENF Grant and from our Lodge Trustee funds – but would like to keep this valuable project running for as long as the need is here in Marin County.

Please consider making a generous donation of any amount to keep Elks Kitchen Cares sustainable and having its positive impact in our community. Every dollar donated goes directly into the program. At just $2.00 per lunch - every dollar helps.
