February is Random Acts of Kindness Month.

The theme this year is to "Explore the Good."

Random Acts of Kindness Week is February 14-20, 2021. This annual tradition of celebrating kindness can bring in more kindness in our and others’ lives. Scientific evidence shows us the positive effects of doing kind acts for others as well as receiving or even witnessing kindness. Try a few of their ideas with your family, especially your children (e.g. Kindness Jar, Love Notes, Care for 3 (a good one for Elks Members who are shut in and may need some TLC). International Boost Self-Esteem Month

Boosting one’s self-esteem is great for fighting depression and anxiety and is good for overall mental wellness. This month is dedicated to the improvement of self-esteem among people of all cultures, race, ethnicities, age groups and social status. Self-esteem, simply put, is how you feel about yourself. And while self-esteem begins to develop in early childhood, it is not set in stone. In fact, self-esteem is ever-changing throughout life, especially during adolescence. There may be times when self-esteem is at an all-time high, and others when it has taken an undesirable dip, perhaps due to a stressful life event like Covid 19, or a mental health struggle, like clinical depression, or while battling drug abuse and addiction in the family. Everyone has the power to develop their self-esteem, and the benefits are significant to all involved. It is also an excellent way for youth to avoid drug use among peers and make better and safer decisions. February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month (TDVAM)

This is an issue that impacts everyone – not just teens – but their parents, teachers, friends and communities as well. In far too many cases—especially with youth—this occurs while one, if not both individuals, are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

We as Elks can raise our Lodge and Communities’s awareness about teen dating violence and promote safe, healthy relationships. Click this link for more information: Teen Dating and Violence Awareness and Prevention Month
